Cleaning and Prevention
Preventive dentistry emphasizes the importance of ongoing hygiene procedures and daily practices to prevent tooth decay and other dental diseases and conditions. Effective preventive dentistry combines at-home oral care with chair side treatments and counseling by dental professionals.
A composite (tooth-colored) filling is used to repair a tooth that has mild to moderate damage from decay, cracks or fractures. The decayed or affected portion of the tooth is removed, then replaced with a composite filling that closely matches the color of the tooth.
Bonding is the use of a tooth-colored composite resin to repair a decayed, chipped, fractured or discolored tooth. This “bond” restores or improves a person’s smile as a cosmetic means of support.
A crown completely caps or covers a tooth or dental implant and is usually needed when a large cavity or break in the tooth threatens the whole health of the tooth.
A bridge is a fixed-in-place restoration used to replace a missing tooth or teeth. With a bridge, an artificial tooth is permanently affixed to adjacent teeth or dental implants. There are various types, depending on the way they’re anchored to the surrounding teeth.
These are fillings in which tooth-colored material is used to restore the structure of a tooth that’s usually been compromised from cavities or external injury. The filling results in a natural-looking, complete tooth and is safe for the health of the body.
Veneers and Lumineers®
A veneer is a thin layer of porcelain placed over teeth with uneven surfaces or teeth that are chipped, discolored, oddly shaped, unevenly spaced or crooked. A composite veneer may be directly placed, or indirectly fabricated by a dental technician in a dental lab, and later bonded (glued) to the tooth. In contrast, a porcelain veneer may only be indirectly fabricated in the lab.
A laminate veneer—Lumineers®—is a thin layer that covers only the surface of the tooth and is generally used for aesthetic purposes and a more pleasing smile.
Periodontal disease can affect your entire mouth and even your entire well-being.
There are two versions:
Gum disease or gingivitis–
Occurs when there’s a build-up of plaque on teeth and gums.
Periodontitis (bone disease)–
Happens in the presence of chronic infection that affects the gums and bones that support the teeth. Bacteria and the body’s immune system break these systems down.
Tooth extraction is the removal of a tooth from its socket in the bone. If a tooth has been broken or damaged by decay, your dentist will try to fix it with a filling, crown or other treatment. Sometimes, though, there's too much damage for the tooth to be repaired. In this case, the tooth needs to be extracted.
Tooth whitening is meant to remove the effects of coffee, cigarettes, wine and medications that typically discolor teeth over time. Aging alone can dim the brightness of natural teeth. Take-home whitening is a kit that’s more effective than over-the-counter products at brightening smiles.
Restoration with Implants
Dental implants are favored over bridges and dentures as they are seen as a permanent and aesthetic solution to the problem of missing teeth. Plus they are strong and durable and fit in well with a busy lifestyle.
The term ‘restoration’ is used to refer to a false tooth. This tooth is then attached to the implant and looks and behaves in the same way as a natural tooth.

“I moved here from out of state and had a hard time trusting which dentist to go to. A family member of mine recommended this dentist and I'm so happy that she did. I think the staff is very friendly and efficient and the dentist was very nice as well. They did a great job of cleaning my teeth. I even needed 2 fillings and they were great about being very gentle."
